How to Vote

We are fortunate that Vermont makes it easy to vote. Here’s what you need to know for the August 2026 Democratic primary.

Are you registered?

Vermont has same-day voter registration, so you can register at your polling place on primary day. To check your current registration status, visit the Secretary of State’s Vermont Voter Portal.

Who can vote in the Democratic primary?

All registered voters can vote in the Democratic primary, even if you voted in a different party’s primary in a previous election.

When and where do I vote?

The primary election is on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Visit the Vermont Voter Portal to confirm polling hours and location.

Want to vote absentee?

Request an absentee ballot online via the Vermont Voter Portal. Prefer paper? Download the early/absentee ballot request form, fill it out, then return it to your town clerk’s office.

Absentee ballots must be received — not just postmarked — by 7 p.m. on election day, so please plan accordingly.
